Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy

Professional Referrals

Whether you are a dentist, orthodontist, dental hygienist, speech-language pathologist, ENT specialist, physician or other healthcare professional, we welcome referrals to Back To Your Roots OMT.

When you refer a patient to us, you can expect individualized, evidence-informed Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy and a collaborative approach to care. We work alongside referring professionals to support each patient's individual needs and contribute to a coordinated healthcare team.

For Dental & Orthodontic Professionals

You see the teeth. We look at the function.

Back To Your Roots OMT works collaboratively with dental and orthodontic professionals when functional patterns involving the tongue, lips, jaw, breathing, chewing or swallowing may be relevant to a patient's care.

Do you often ask yourself?

"Why does this open bite keep coming back?"

"Why is this child's tongue doing that?"

"Why is this patient still mouth breathing?"

"Why is this patient clenching?"

"Why isn't this patient maintaining their orthodontic result?"

"Should this patient have therapy before/after a release?"

When might you consider an OMT assessment?

Open bite

Lip / Tongue tie

Clenching/Bruxism

Low Tongue posture

Mouth breathing habit

Persistent Tongue thrust

Jaw tension / TMJ concerns

Orthodontic relapse

Lip competence

Oral habit

What information will you receive?

We believe in keeping communication open throughout the OMT process and working collaboratively with your dental or orthodontic team.

When a patient is referred to Back To Your Roots OMT, you can expect:

  • Initial OMT Report – A summary of the patient's functional findings, areas of concern, and recommended OMT treatment plan.

  • Ongoing Communication – Open communication throughout treatment should you have questions, concerns, or wish to discuss a patient's progress or functional findings.

  • Final OMT Report – A summary of the patient's progress, changes observed throughout therapy, and recommendations for continued functional support following completion of the program.

  • Collaborative Care – We welcome communication with the referring provider when questions arise or when coordination with dental, orthodontic, or other professional care may be beneficial.

Our goal is to ensure that you are kept informed and that OMT complements the patient's overall dental and orthodontic care.
