Meet Kelly Hall, RDH

I am a Registered Dental Hygienist and Orofacial Myologist with an extensive background in dentistry and a focused interest in orofacial function, breathing and airway health. I am the owner and founder of Back To Your Roots Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy, where I provide individualized Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy for children and adults, ages 4 and up.

My Journey into Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy

My journey into the field of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy began through my work in dentistry and a growing interest in the connection between oral function, breathing and overall health. I wanted to better understand why certain orofacial patterns develop and how factors such as breathing, tongue posture, swallowing, chewing, jaw function and craniofacial development can influence oral health, sleep and well-being.

This curiosity developed into a passion for understanding the important role that the orofacial muscles and airway play in functional health. It also inspired the name of my practice, Back To Your Roots—reflecting my belief that understanding the underlying functional patterns can be an important part of developing an individualized approach to care.

A Focus on Education, Collaboration & Prevention

My work is focused on helping children and adults develop healthier orofacial patterns and functional habits through individualized, evidence-informed therapy. Depending on the individual's needs, therapy may address nasal breathing, oral rest posture, tongue and lip function, chewing, swallowing, speech-related oral function and coordination of the muscles of the face, mouth and jaw.

I believe that effective care is often collaborative. When appropriate, I work alongside dentists, orthodontists, physicians, speech-language pathologists, physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals to support a coordinated approach to each individual's care.

In addition to clinical practice, I am passionate about education and professional mentorship within the field of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy. This led to the development of my Mentoring and Resources programs, created to help other healthcare and dental professionals better understand Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders, recognize functional patterns that may warrant further assessment, and understand where Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy may fit within comprehensive care.

My goal is to continue increasing awareness of orofacial function and encouraging collaboration between the professionals who support our patients.

Together, we can make a difference in the field of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy.
